The Money Isn’t In The List, It’s In the Relationship…

If you’ve been online for very long, you’ve surely heard the big gurus who talk about ”The Money’s in the List”, right?

While that’s somewhat true, a better way of saying it is…

“The Money’s in having a RELATIONSHIP with a community of people.”

The single BEST way for growing a list that turns into a RELATIONSHIP is to build the list by getting people to attend webinars that you offer.

I’m not talking about the automated webinars that are so impersonal, either. That actually doesn’t create a RELATIONSHIP in the same way.

That I’m talking about is a real LIVE webinar – one where people can interact with you (at least in writing).

But because so many marketers are now offering automated replays of webinars, those who are taking the time to do live webinars are often finding that the number of people attending the webinars has been decreasing considerably.

A year ago, you could easily expect about 50% of those who registered for a webinar to show up for the live webinar. Today, it’s more like 20% to 25% of those who register actually show up.

The result is that sales from webinars are dropping like a rock for most businesses!

In the past, I’ve always taught my students that one of their first goals in their business is to add 500 to 1,000 subscribers to their list in less than 30 days.

The way that I had them accomplish this goal was to reach out to joint venture partners who already had lists and get them to promote free webinars through an affiliate link.

While this is a great strategy that can easily accomplish the goal (add 500 to 1,000 subscribers in less than 30 days) from just 2 to 4 webinars, my students always struggled with actually doing this. They had tons of excuses such as:

* I don’t have anything to offer a JV Partner
* I’m just a newbie and no one would want to JV with me
* I’m too afraid to talk to 100 people on a webinar
* and on, and on the excuses went!

Recently, I came up with an alternative way for them to accomplish the same goal…

… Create an event on Facebook and invite all your Facebook friends and fans to it
… Create an event on Google+ and invite all your circles and gmail contacts to it

Even if you only have a few hundred friends on Facebook and a few hundred people on Google+ circles, you can easily get 500+ new subscribers from doing just a few free webinars!

In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing many examples of DU Bachelor Students who are doing free webinars and promoting them on Facebook and Google+.

It’s Time to Think Differently!

I hope you had a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving (if you’re here in the US).

This year, I spent the holiday with my dear friends, Rodger and Crystal Hollingsworth. Rodger is both a friend and a Joint Venture Partner.

Rodger and Crystal also invited a few other friends who are JV Partners, Lizette LaForge (the JV Manager for the guys at Speaking Empire) and Ben Bressington and his wife (Ben’s business is helping entrepreneurs to “gamify” their content and training programs).
